During a live press conference this morning, Kim So Hyun, Song Kang, and Director Kim Jin Woo shared their insights while getting viewers even more hyped up about the coming of Love Alarm Season 2. D-5, people!
Ring Your Love Alarm
It's been 4 years since the Love alarm app was launched, and within that period, 50 million people have been ringing it. Season 1 of the hit K-Drama showed us that Love Alarm can alert us when someone within a 10-meter radius has feelings for us. With season 2 on the horizon, we will be greeted by Love Alarm 2.0, a fancy upgrade that notifies us not only about who currently likes us, but also about who could potentially develop feelings for us in the future.
With Kim Jojo (Kim So Hyun) unable to remove the shield from her Love Alarm, her feelings remain a mystery. So, whether you guys are on #TeamHyeYeong or #TeamSunOh, it's all a guessing game for us until the premiere of the second season.
Starring lead characters, Kim So Hyun, Song Kang, Go Min Si, and Jung Ga Ram, the second installment of Love Alarm will tug at our heartstrings and make you wish this app were real.
While Jung Ga Ram, who portrays the role of Lee Hye Yeong, may have been absent from the press conference, he did make sure to send sweet finger hearts to the audience.
The Social Issues Conveyed By Love Alarm
Director Kim Jin Woo expressed his insights on this with a positive take. It was a reminder that we shouldn't let technology, popularity, or anything else for that matter create a social divide amongst humanity, but also that we shouldn't fear this kind of technology becoming a reality, because it could be pretty amazing.
"When an application ends up controlling people's feelings or emotions or it becomes a divider of social status, I think you don't have to be as logical and too reasonable when you approach this kind of idea. You know, a new app like this can become a reality and it could lead to many new exciting elements in life. So, I think that's sort of a positive and a happier outlook, and using your imagination to imagine society like that could be a way to enjoy the title. And I think the message that I was trying to convey was that you don't have to be too afraid of these technologies. -Director Kim Jin Woo
Would You Download the Love Alarm App If It Existed In Real Life?
It may surprise you, but Kim So Hyun and Song Kang would rather not download the app if it existed in real life.
"For me, as you've seen a little bit in the trailer, my choices in the story ended up hurting Sun Oh and Hye Yeong without my intention. So, that was very difficult. For me, even if it were real, I think I would prefer to express my feelings with my own words rather than using the app." -Kim So Hyun
"For me, I also don't think I would download the app. While the app is convenient in that you don't have to express your feelings, I think that delivering your feelings in your own words and confessing your emotions by yourself is more true."-Song Kang
While we are trying to manifest the Love Alarm app into a reality, we couldn't agree more with these two. There's nothing like conveying your feelings to someone you love with your own words and actions.
