Reasons Why "Yumi's Cells" Is Worth Watching

Yumi's Cells definitely deserves a spot on your weekend watch list!

In this K-Drama adaptation of the popular webtoon, we are taken on an extraordinary journey by an equally extraordinary cast.

The star-studded lineup includes Kim Go Eun as Yumi, GOT7’s Jinyoung as Bobby, SHINee's Choi Min Ho as Woogie, and Ahn Bo Hyun as Woong.

Yumi's Cells, Yumi's Rules

Yumi's Cells is driven by a unique plot and artistic direction that will make it difficult for you to resist binging.

Let’s start with the color aesthetics. The sets are enchanting and appealing to the eye. You may recognize props from the original webtoon, such as the cereal box, Yumi’s diary, and the shower cap!

The rom-com follows the growth of Yumi, facing troubles from her love tropes and her cells providing conflicting insights for every situation. The cells are voiced by amazing artists that bring out scenarios perfectly.

The notion of Yumi getting to see inside her mind when having a big turning point was comforting. Notice the amazing camera work when Yumi entered Woong's residence. During that confrontation, the angle was subtly zooming out as if signifying the distance being drawn between them. Metaphorically, in the last episode, you can see the parallel between the start and end. They met at the fountain; they separated at the fountain. Yumi was the first to approach Woong, Yumi was the last to look back. It was art in its finest form.

Season 1 was fantastic with an exquisite soundtrack, sweeping shots into Yumi’s brain, and a tour of her fun-filled life. On that note, we hope our love cells will get a reviving jolt in the upcoming seasons.

In the wise words of Yumi; “Yumi rules come before dating rules! Who made up these dating rules anyway?”
